Since the year 1998, Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists arranges the contest for Lithuanian enterprises “Lithuanian Product of the Year“. Participants and winners of the contest felt its all-round benefit: high-quality Lithuanian products are presented to customers; enterprises are provided an opportunity to demonstrate their production both to the national market and foreign market. In addition, it was a supplemental motivation for enterprises to continue striving for higher achievements.

In 1949, Joseph Woodland was wrestling with the concept of automatically capturing information about an item. He believed that the dots and dashes of Morse code would to be a good place to start. He could not figure out how to use those morse code patterns to solve the problem. Then, one day as he relaxed at the beach, he drew dots and dashes in the sand. As his fingers elongated the dashes he looked at the result and released this was the answer.

Three years later Joseph Woodland and his partner received a patent on what began as lines in the sand, and the linear bar code was born. It took many years for the concept to become a commercial reality. Although the barcode concept was used in a few areas prior to 1974 the first appearance in the retail sector was in 1974.

Good things that happened in 2010? We were proud to become sponsors of Vilnius Mama Jazz 2010. Studio Libre designed posters, booklets and other printed material for 9th international jazz festival in Vilnius. It was big pleasure to meet such stars as Robert Glasper, Eivind Aarset, Gerald Clayton and others. And we still in cooperation through 2011. Thanks Mama Jazz!
